Col-Erase is the classic animation roughing pencil. It's a colored pencil that erases cleanly, so you can sketch loose, fix mistakes, and draw over your roughs without making a mess. This set has all 24 colors.

Why animators use more than blue

• Blue: first roughs. It's light, easy to draw over, and drops out when you scan in black and white.
• Red / carmine: a second pass, corrections, or the animator's "keys" versus the assistant's in-betweens.
• Green, orange, and the rest: color-code overlapping characters or effects in one scene (the ball in orange, the character in blue) so nobody traces the wrong line.
• Tone colors: mark shadow and highlight shapes for the clean-up and ink-and-paint stage.

Studio tip: Col-Erase leads are soft and break when sharpened in cheap electric sharpeners. Use a hand sharpener or a craft knife.
